trailer lighting

Default trailer lighting

i can't get the tailights, brake lights or turn signals to work on the trailer when hooked to my dodge. do dodges need a special adapter? the marker lights on the trailer work but thats it. any urgent help would be appreciated!

It shouldn't be different on Dodge vs others. I would guess a bad ground if all that is not working. Get a meter and check all the pins of your connector. Also check the trailer to make sure it's connector is not broken.

No special connector. It's the same as all other trucks. Those type of problems are why i religiously squirt some Dielectric grease in my connectors. I do it from day one and I never ever have problems other than the occasional mess on the ends of the plugs.
They make the plug in testers for trailers and it tells you what the problem really is. But it sounds like a ground problem. Most problems are ground related. Check the main ground at the coupler.

i put a new connector on the ground and wire brushed the surface in case that was the problem and they still dont work

Go to Wally World and get a trailer harness tester. They only cost a few bucks and will tell you if the truck's wiring is good. If so it's in the trailer somewhere. If not, most likely someone butchered the trailer harness on the truck.

I had this problem two weeks ago, and it ended up being the ground. I also raised the trailer and sprayed some WD-40 on the ball and that seemed to work out for me.
