damnnn 04, that sucks. i havent been online all day, so i get on now and it looks like i missed all da fun lol. I have a dent in the back of my cab above the window too, it just adds character. leave it haha. i was thinkin maybe it was "power sliding rear window" time...no? ohhhh, and did u ever get the stump out? lol
at last count, I've got about 55 ban hammer related pics or avatars or animated gifs... I rotate them when I ban people...
Damn man, sorry to hear about the truck. I'll say this these things to you though. It could've been worse. At first with that front picture, I thought that it went through the windshield, or went through the hood. It sucks, you don't have much damage, but it's amazing what it'll cost. A whole new window, and a new tailgate. And the damage of what you can't fix at least to 100%.
And also, what you did wasn't stupid. Anyone who has ever done a project knows that they do want to get it done. So trying to rock it a little bit like you did, that's normal for people to do it. Unfortunately, it's usually that last little bit that goes over the edge, and makes you think "why?" But I'm really sorry to hear it, and glad you got it fixed.
Also for the Duramax, getting the HD tie rod ends is something he should've done a long time ago. That's one of the first things that you do ever if you have the 2500 Duramax.
