In the fuel tank, along with the pump.

Seems to work. Just don't run the tank down to "fumes". Fill 'er back up at 1/4 tank or so.

What's so special about this filter that it doesn't need to be replaced? I'm starting to think there's no filter at all....what better place to say the filter is than the one place you can't check easily.

All electric pumps in the tank have a strainer on them. This is what they consider a filter, I guess.

It might be like a jeep TJ, where the filter sits directly on top of the pump in the tank. If it is then it is an actual fuel filter... just a pain in the *** to get to. I've been told by many mechanics that if they're going in to replace an in tank filter that's it's wise to just replace the pump as well while you're in there. If you find the need to.

That's a crock of dung. I'm not replacing a $400 pump assembly to replace the filter. That is poor engineering right there!!
Then again, I haven't read of many fuel related problems due to dirt, either.
