Default Royal Purple oil filters

I saw on Trucks! this morning, they featured the new royal purple oil filters.

The filter is larger then normal ones so its supposed to filter more oil and prevents dry starts. and the inside material is all synthetic.

Not sure if this is old news but figured id let yall know since everyone runs RP anyway.

Makes me want to switch over to RP even more.

That is a pretty good deal compared to pep boys regular price for the royal purple oil.

is the RP performance really worth the expense?

No.

If these engines needed synthetic, they'd come from the factory with synthetic.

These motors seem to have an oiling problem that synthetic won't fix.

I have heard that the rp helps reduce the hemi tick. If it does then I think it would be worth it.

umm...royal purple, and all synthetics, are preferred around here. lots and lots of posts on the oil. but this one is about the filters.

$15/ filter seemed kinda pricey, but i might try it at the package price. basically, it was like getting $10 off the filter after i broke it down.

Just because they're preferred doesn't make them the best.

There's a reason diesel manufacturers and high performance motor builders urge against RP. There's tons upon tons of additives in RP. In high temperatures, in diesels and high power motors, a certain mineral they add will separate and turn to a graphite like sludge. Hell, using RP in some vehicles will void the warranty because of certain additives burning off and ruining the cat.
