Default homemade angel eye headlight

this website tells how to make a homemade angel eye found on some bmw's.
http://www.geocities.com/crx_auto/eagle_eyes.htm

I made a pair for trial this weekend for my hella 500's behind the grill because i didnt want to open up my headlight housing to take measurements when i need to drive this week. i will prob finish up the whole thing over spring break next week.

The procedure told on the website works wonderfully!!!!!!! it looks amazing!! the only problem is that the LED bulbs i used were not bright enough to light up the whole ring because i was making a ring that was about 3 times the size as the one on the website due to the large diameters of the hella 500's as well as the ram's. so im getting an LED light that is 10mm instead of 5mm and is about 23 times brighter. so it should light it up like a christmast tree when im done.

ill definatly post some pics when im done with the intall of the hella 500's this week and see if i really want to open up my headlight to do the real headlighs. But it was very easy to do this though!!

BUT U NEED SOLID RODS not the hollow ones found on most blinds!!!

10mm LEDs will not fit in the blind rods and bigger isnt brighter. LED brightness is measured in MCD. I have a pack of 30 5mm white LEDs that are 55000mcd.

Are you sure there isnt an extra 0 in those numbers because when I checked at RS they had nothing over 10k. Do you have a part number because I would be interested. 98k would be extremely bright. Also, did you do reflective tape on the back or tin foil?
