The difference in 4.7L, 5.7L, and custom air intakes?
So i been looking at the air intake threads and been shopping around for an intake... I noticed that its kinda hard to find an intake for a 4.7L but 5.7L's are a dime a dozen. Why is that?
Whats stopping me from putting a hemi air intake on my magnum.. Is it just bolt on differences, or is it really a big difference with airflow from a hemi and magnum engines.. i mean common some of you guys created your own intakes out of plumbing tubes, slapped a K&N filter on from auto zone and seen the same effects as a $300 intake.. what do you guys think of the customs? is that a long term bad idea to save money or is that one way to go?
appreciate the inputs, sry for all the questions in one, but im sure im not the only one thinking this..thanks guys!

I have the same exact truck. I just bought the k&n drop in filter, and now im saving up for the airraid modular intake tube from http://www.airaidsales.com. Check it out, they have full air intake systems for the 4.7l rams.
All the intakes are pretty much the same in terms of performance increases, unless they are truly pulling cold air with ducting or a ram air system. You should be able to take a 5.7 intake and put it on a 4.7 w/ little modification like a different coupler. Do you want to keep the stock airbox and just swap out the tube, resonator, and filter for something with more flow?
The reason it's easier to find them for the 5.7L is because there's more demand/money in producing them.
hmm well thanx guys... maybe ill get creative and make one and try that out too.. since i dont have $200 for a whole CAI would i get any benefit in just getting a K&N filter for my stock one for right now since they are only like $49? my filter is getting dirty so i just need a filter for now..

I don't know if you have the money but this kit gives you the filter and replaces all the restrictive tubing leading to the TB http://www.amazon.com/True-Flow-3050...9769689&sr=8-1
Oiled foam filters better and can hold more dirt than oiled cotton, that's why I got one of their filters.
