ok guys, need some input/advice. im in the market for some new tires. im looking for a 35" mud terrain. i have pro-comp xterrains on my truck now and i hate em! WAY too loud!!!! so im looking at and have been researching toyo open country, cooper stt, nitto mud grappler, pro-comp extreme mud, and mickey thompson mtz and im about to pull all my hair out.... im mostly on street but will be doing a lot more off roadin once my body lift goes in on saturday. i want a tire that will wear well, look sweet, perform well in rain/snow/mud, and finally be a lot quieter than my tires now! ive priced them all and the toyos seem to be most expensive and the coopers seem to be the cheapest. i dont want an all terrain so dont tell me i should try them.. i wanna spend around 1200...1300 TOPS! so any and all input will be greatly appreciated. i will be ordering which ever tires i choose either friday or saturday so the faster the responses the easier itll be for me!

fyi i have 17" mickey thompson classic II rims so any width from 12.5-14 shouldnt be a proplem. my tires now are 35x12.5x17.

 

go pro-comp extreme i have them in 35" there awesome in the mud and about every type of terrain. Had them on for bout 6000 miles now and look like the day i bought them, and better yet there are really quite for a mud tire.\

Mud tire and Loud go together like pizza and beer. Can't have one without the other. If a mud tire is quiet, it's an A/T with an M/T label.

If you think X-Terrains are loud, stay away from the Nitto and the Toyo for sure. Great off-road and mud tires, but loud, really loud on pavement.

Maybe think of a Hybrid tread, like I did. I have to travel 360 miles each way on pavement to get to my farmland. Once I get there, I play/fish/hunt hard. Cepek FCIIs really do give the best of both worlds. A/T tread in the middle, really aggressive mud blocks on the inner and outer sides with aggressive sidebiters. Run them with about 80% or more air capacity, the center tread takes command on road, noisier than an A/T but very quiet compared to a M/T. Air 'em down a little for play and let them big aggressive blocks and side-biters take over. Will stay with most mud tires except for Claws and Boggers.

mickey thompson mtz your best bet there not even loud at all, if you think the tires you have on right now are loud then you sure dont want to touch the NItto MUd grapplers they are really loud but i dont care

 

yes nittos are loud as hell but dont take my word for it lol

but as you may not know the mickey thompson mtz has not been in the market as long as the Dick Cepek F-C II so not alot of reviews have been published about those tires and they are desing to handle some stuff and then again do well in the street

 

MTZ is a great tire, the only tires I buy are Mickey Thompson/Dick Cepeks. I have a couple of friends with the MTZ's. They seem to be holding up well on pavement for a M/T and are not that loud as M/Ts go, but the OP seems to be very concerned with highway noise, and the FCIIs are a good bit quieter without giving up much at all in the off-road dept...
