Custom Intake installed, with problems?
Ok so i decided today that I was gonna make my own CAI like some of you other guys on here.. so with all of it installed using 3" Pipeing a couple corner joints and a few holes i finally got it installed... went out and test drove it for a few. prolly a good 10 miles if not a few more.. i noticed that it is really loud when around 2500 - 3500 rpms, specially when almost flooring it.. because of this little issue i havnt given it all out gas yet till i get some advice on this.. when i first started i was getting 8 to 9 miles per gallon on the upper computer going 50mph then after a while getting on the highway crusen 71mph i was getting in the 18mpg range then getting off the highway going 50 again i was getting up to 23mpg.. weird idk why prolly the computer doesnt really do a good reading... I need to know if your guyses customs are loud too or other CAI's are the same.. please give me advice.. heres the pics of it so far.. not finished yet still gonna paint it and do all the pretty work after tested and happy... let me know if its a bad idea to keep it on... ( Also the Air sensor is snugg in the hole i just used duck tape as extra added protection its not just duck tape holding it in lol..)

so i wonder if the comptuer takes a while to finally realize that its getting more air.. maybe thats why my MPG is bouncing around from great MPG to low MPG.. i wonder what i trully am getting..
Well my intake is super loud and its a K&N with metal tubing. When I first start it up it sounds like a shop vac and then when I get on it, it kind of whistles like a turbo?
And on the overhead MPG, I don't know what to say about that...It takes your computer a little while to adjust to the higher flow, it should go away in awhile. The estimate is never right, but your numbers show a huge difference. Do a restart and then you will probably see a more accurate estimate

that computer does an average reading. you have to reset it each time you make a trip if you want to see what you are getting at that time. the wind really makes a difference. i went in to the city one time and got 17 (against the wind) and 27 coming home (with).

Yeah like my SILVER bro said,CAI's are loud..youll get used to it. And as far as the overhead, everytime you reset it it fluctuates alot, you have to drive it for awhile to get it to settle down. IMO your ok.
lol i just went out to get a slurpy at 7-11 and i finally got on it completly.. my 4.7 sounds like it has ***** now finally haha.. cant wait to get an exaust on here and see how much of a difference it will make in sound and HP.. (maybe my next mod should be truck nutzzzz) <-- F*** That.. Im prolly gonna paint the tube Black and put a Monster Energy Decal on it.. that would look pretty nice.. i dont think reds gonna look good on that tube..
