Default Taurus e-fan install

I pulled a taurus fan from my local junkyard and put it on my truck to replace the clutch fan and gain some mpg. Total cost was about $127 due to the fact that I already had the heavy gauge wires needed to wire the power and grounds up. Mounting it was the hardest part and I used U brackets bent from scrap L brackets as well as a couple plastic U brackets. I mounted the fan in the stock shroud b/c that way it gives the airflow the direction it needs to cool the entire radiator. Wiring took a little while due to me taping into the wrong ignition wire and my in line fuse being too small at first. Once I got all that worked out I set it to come on a little over medium on the coolant temp gauge. I wired it on high speed for quick cool downs and to lessen any chance of overheating in the coming weather. Also this job can be frustrating, so I suggest some help (my dad helped me out). Here a few pics of the wiring and some crappy one's from inside the shroud.

Is there a reason you have it wired on high? I have the same fan and have found that it pulls more than enough air on the low setting.

Well I ran it on high and low testing it across the battery to see which was which and there didn't seem to be a whole lot of a difference. So I just wired it up on high for quick cool downs and to be on the safe side. The thing hasn't even come on yet w/ my daily driving, but as it gets hotter I'm sure it will.

When I hooked mine up I had it on high first and it pulled so much air it sounded like a helicopter under the hood

It draws 42 amps on high and will melt your relay and or blow fuses soon. Only draws 16 amps on low. I tested with an amp clamp!! I have one on my Mustang. Low is fine. My car only runs 190* on low with the a/c on in 90 degree weather.
That fan is pretty small for the large Ram radiator. It's actually too small for my smaller Mustang radiator, but cools it good for now. I would have gotten one off of a V8 4.6L T-bird/Cougar. Or perhaps a single fan set-up from a 08-up Grand Caravan/Town and Country.
I have a total of $51 in mine. $16 with warranty for the fan at Pull-a-Part and $35 for the adjustable controller at Pep-boys. Comes on @ 200*, kicks off @ 190* running a 180 thermostat.

No it's not gonna do anything to my relay, here is a link to the setup I used http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2...cfan/index.php with a 75 amp Tyco relay. It might blow the 40 amp agu fuse, but I have a 70 I can put in there if that happens.

The relay will work, but I have the same Hayden adj. kit and the wiring is too small for long term use. The fan wiring is twice as big as the 14guage wiring on the kit.

I tested mine on the Mustang on low yesterday in 89* weather with the a/c on and it never got over 190*. With the a/c off, it comes on at about 202 and off @ 190*. perfect for my 180 thermostat.

Your 3.7L will probably be fine. I wouldn't use a Taurus fan on my Hemi, especially when towing 7500lbs
