I say keep the bars lower as that is there purpose is to help you into the truck and every one that rides with has to use mine now I couldnt imagine after a 3" body lift you could shorten them maybe an inch or two but it looks good to me when they are lower

That's why I went with the oem ones. They mount to the body and look right with the lift.

How exactly are they mounted to the body? Are they pretty sturdy?

Very sturdy, they're oem! There are mount locations from the factory that they mount into. My fil is close to 300 and he uses them all the time.

Well I think I will do some searching around to see if I can find a black set for a decent price.

I just ordered the body lift and gap guards from 4wheelonline. $314.96 for the body lift and $72.95 for the gap guards. Not to bad all in all.

Not realy sure, I am thinking OEM since I know that they mount to the body and will go up with the body when I instal the body lift. Thats my 2 main concers attaching to the body and they have to be BLACK of course.

Well I know that the Westin ones do not attach to the body and stay at the same lower height as I have already seem pictures of them on a truck with body lift. Not sure about the first ones though.

Thats the thing none of the nerf bar companies specify how they are mounted. I guess I could just start calling them one by one. But I have also come to find most of these customer service people dont know much more about their products then I do. If the truck is not bone stock they cant realy help. At least that has been my experience so far.
