Default 2002 SLT plus with 5.9l help

I just bought a 2002 SLT plus with the 5.9L, the guy before me put on a flowmaster (single in dual out) exhaust on it, and a K&N drop in filter. The problem I am having is that it doesn’t seem to have very much torque (power)... The truck doesn’t seem like it wants to get up and go like I think it should. If I punch it from a stand still I get no tire spin, and it just gradually accelerates... Is this how the 5.9L are? or is there something wrong with the truck, like the exhaust choking it or something?

How many miles are on it? It could be due for a tune-up.

I have the same truck, and it is hard to get it to break traction from a stand still on dry pavement. Mine accelerates fast but wont spin tires. Mine has over 100k mi on it now and still has good acceleration. I have same drop in filter and duals after muffler, just did a tune up last month.

i was actually wondering the same hting about the 5.9s, it seems the 5.7s are just alot more powerful. this surpises me needless to say, as i come from the Jeep World and the chrysler 5.9 360s are king there..

I just checked for codes and nothing came up (thank God!). I guess its just how this engine is, my buddies 2001 with the 5.9L is faster than mine

have you cleaned you throttle body, and check egr valve, cause this is the second 5.9 ram 1500 i have owned and both had plenty of speed off line.

So just spray carb cleaner at the blades while it running?

How do I check to see if the egr valve is working right? The truck runs fine, it just seems like there is no power off the line..
