Where did the 100hp come from in 08 4.7?
where did the extra 100hp come from the the 2008 4.7 and can i do it to my 2007 4.7. i think they are new cams right. but i didnt think you could get 100hp from just new cams. and where can i get them?
well i am looking to get 300hp and not just a small 220 hp from my 4.7 now. and i would like to know what i can do to get the extra power that is not programmers or cai or exhaust. and i dont want to spend a ton of money either. i was thinking H.O. cams but im not sure yet though. how much more power am i looking at with that?
They put larger heads on it, better cam, advanced timing, and a better breathing motor. Ported heads is $2000, the H/O cams would be $300; however, I would go with 206 cams, the timing can easily be achieved through a SC tuner, and a aftermarket CAI w/ better headers would take care of the breathing part. All together you would end up over 300hp and with well more that 400tq. That is what I am working on right now on my 05.
I hope you figure those numbers to be flywheel and not rwhp, because that's what it will be. Personally, I would drop in a used 5.7L. You can get a low mileage used one off ebay shipped to your door for under $3k

Old saying...No replacement for displacement when it comes to N/A motors.
I'd rather swap a 5.7L or add a s/c'er to your 4.7L versus install new heads, cams and a custom dyno tune to get things squared away. That's the expensive route and more time consuming. You'd wanna remove the engine anyways to do all that work. It would be silly to do it in the truck.
