I would just take the tow hooks off and paint them seperately. Then tape off around the piece that is in there behind the hooks and paint that right on the truck.

 

Tuesday the body shop is going to be painting the areas where the front mudflaps left there incision marks, and didn't know if it would be worthy of asking them to do the grille inserts while it was there. Could regular paint be applied, or does a special applicant need to be used to adhere appropriately? Is it easy to take the grille inserts out to paint them, or can they be painted still connected to the grille?

Also, as I've mentioned before, one of the employees has offered to tint my tail lights. His boss won't let them do it there because they don't want to be liable if I get pulled over considering they are a very reputable shop. But the guy showed me a set of tails he did on a Chevy that was in the parking lot, and it looked very nice. They weren't completely smoked, showing a hint of red in them, but defiantly sent home the message of being customized, which I like. So I'm still wondering if it might be worth asking him to do a light glazing on the headlights considering I'm wanting to buy smoked headlights for the truck. What do you guys think?

 

I say do the lights and then see how it looks.....i think it looks great with just the grill smiling now, but the lights are easy to swap and you want to do it anyways so do those first then decide.

 

Yeah? You like the chrome grille inserts? I think they look awesome up close, but sometimes when I'm pulling up to my truck from afar, it looks a little awkward with the chrome inserts surround by the all black. I just wasn't sure if it would look plain having the headlights smoked like the tails. The smoked housing headlights might offer a little better contrast, but like you said, if I don't like them, I could just buy the smoked housing headlights off eBay.

 

there is a diy thread on painting the inside of your headlights, it really changes the look of a truck look at mine or off roads, only cost me about 20 bucks to do both better than 150.00!!!!

 

I painted mine while they were still connected to the grill. I didn't really see the need to remove them bc it was much easier just to tape off around them and paint.

 

i suggested using the tint film just in case you got messed with by the local law i grew up in maine and know there sticklers about stuff this way if they give you crap about it just peel it off if they are painted youll spending more to buy new ones check the law b4 hand and see what it says about visibility of taillights just an option i hate to see ppl wasting money when it could be put towards more mods cause youll have the bug i got it but my wallet says no....

 

I like the look you now have. Maybe shave the ram head off the cowl?
