Hey guys. A friend I work with has a 2008 Reg Cab Short Bed Z71 Silverado with a 4.8L V8 and he's been bragging all day about how fast his truck is and how it would beat mine. What do you guys think?
2006 HEMI Ram 1500 QC SLT 2WD w/ Airaid CAI and Magnaflow 14" Exhaust vs his bone stock 2008 Silverado RCSB Z71 with a 4.8L.
He has a good chance actually...he has a 600 lbs weight advantage and less power loss with the 4l60-e tranny/electric fans. Is his Z71 a 4x4? They use to all be 4x4's but that changed a few years ago. He could also have a tune which really brings the ls-based engines to life and you'd never even know...but the same goes for you Which rear do you have?
Don't blow the launch because it'll be closer than you think.

His is a 2wd Z71. It's a bone stock truck. I have the factory 3.92 LSD in my truck.
I remember driving his truck one time. It's quick but my Ram feels considerably quicker.
On another note. I hear getting a good aftermarket torque converter will help bring back a good amount of lost hp and tq.
