Default Muffler Offset Question?

Sorry for the question, I did a search but couldn't find what I was looking for. 2006 Ram RCSB 4.7, I'm replacing the stock muffler with a 40 Flowmaster, plan on using all the original pipe. My problem is deciding which offset to order. It's definitely offset inlet, but after doing some measurements of the stock muffler it looks like it's somewhere between a center exit or an offset exit on the Flowmaster. I'm leaning towards ordering the offset exit but it would ease my mind if somebody has already done this and could tell me what they used.

I just want to avoid having to bend any pipe or having to put in an "S" bend to get it to fit.

I have the same truck as you and I went with the OSI/OSE and I just turned the muffle up with the exit offset closer to the bed that way it doesn't hang down as low and risk getting ripped off if I hit something in the road.

The problem with the offset is that if you put it on with the exit offset closer to the ground it only hangs about 8 inches off the ground and if you live in a place where animals like to get out in the road and just look at you like your stupid when you're comin towards them at 60MPH, the muffler tends to get messed up or ripped off unless you weld the hell out of the muffler like I did.

BTW you will need about 2 foot of pipe to meet up the stock tailpipe with the new muffler.

I have the QC 4.7 and did the same thing but have the Borla XS pro center in / offset out. The only problem I had was even though the tail pipe (exit) is 3" they crimped it down to 2.5" at the old muffler and I got the 3 in 3 out. What a PITA and I had to cut off the crimp and weld it in. Why would they do this.

Thanks alot, that helps a bunch!! I have some extra 3 inch laying around, and I just got gas for my MIG, so I'm ready to go.

That's strange that they did that with the tailpipe. On mine there's 3 inch pipe running to the muffler but then it reduces down to 2.5 right before the inlet. It's 3 inch from the exit out though.
