I need to get a 4x4 truck.

Once you have owned a 4x4, you will never want a 2x4, but, I have owned a lot of 2wd and with a LTD slip diff and good tires, you can go any where depending on ground clearance, most 4x4 are 3x4 unless you have a front locker.
Most 4x4 get the crap kicked into them with thier oners thinking they can go any where, 4x4 cost a lot more to maintain and break more than a 2wd..
Last winter, I never used my 4x4, Knowing it was thier, if neededis worth it.

Less weight = better mileage and faster
With the 545RE transmission, you need all of the power that you can get

I made sure my truck came with 4wd mainly for snow. And the fact that up here in New England, most of the dealers I’ve seen don’t carry too many 2wd trucks, if at all. But I have to say that even in 2wd, these truck are pretty good in the snow. I’ve driven through 14” of snow in 2wd, with an open diff, and the stock Goodyear HP’s without too much of a problem. Although, for me, I still like knowing the 4wd is there just in case I need it.

I love my 4x4, but then again I just moved to Michigan from Kodiak, Alaska... So I have the "necessity" factor. I'm +1 with the other guys, I would rather put my foot in the hole I dug myself for traction, rather than let a Chevy pull me out! Lol.

P.S. If you have a cellphone with video, you can always capture a verbal agreement.

hmm, i found out the hard way that these trucks in 2 wheel aren't that great in the snow...
drove in 4 wheel until i thought it was safe to take it out, it wasn't. had no time to react and hit the only stupid pole on the side of the road.

lol maybe that was a bad example, if you replace a body shop with one of your friends or your neighbors who says they'll fix your vehicle up for you and the mess up, you can be a d*** and sue for damages based off a verbal contract, trust me this stuff exists, there is even such thing as a non-verbal contract where you don't even have to say anything and you can be liable for your actions. Its in the law books, and it's there for a reason, I had a class for an entire year dedicated to business law and about half the book we used in that class was related to different types of contracts. Next time you see a LEO on the side of the road and you still don't believe me, feel free to ask him/her

That's driver error right there....4x4 doesn't do much once your truck is moving.

actually, there was no reason for me to have gone off the road. the only thing i can figure is that i hit a drift at the top of a small hill, and that since my shocks were/are bad, it lifted one of my rear tires enough that it flung me. i know traction doesn't matter in 4 by or 2by, but in 4 you tend to slide straight unless you turn the wheel. never had a problem driving in the snow before, first accident i've had in the snow. no one was hurt but my buddy was supposed to have been riding me but he didn't want to go that day, lucky him.
