Default Cruise control wont work...

I have a 2002 SLT plus, and the cruise control wont enable... When I hit the on/off button the cruise control light comes on, but when I hit cruise nothing... I checked the brake control and it works fine... Is there anything else that I should look for?

gtup, I have the same problem. I just joined the forum and have been looking for the answer as well. First thing is to check the brake switch and then look for a vacuum leak. The vacuum system also controls your vents, so try turning the A/C off and see if you get enough vacuum to engage the cruise. Just some ideas. Good luck!

I have tried the cruise with the A/C on and off and still nothing... Where else can I check for a vacuum leak?

Reefguy, what do I do to check the ignition switch?

gtup, try checking your vacuum lines. One T's off from the brake booster and travels to the acuator under the battery, on the drivers side. At least that's where it goes on my 02.

There is a thing called a clockspring in your sterring wheel/column this causes a problem with the CC as well as any other electrical controls you may have on your steering wheel,do a search on cruise control or clockspring and you should find some good info.

Default Cruise control blues!

I just changed out the drivers side front hub. Would this effect my cruise control?

^^^ Yes because there is a vehicle speed sensor (VSS) in in and the ABS module needs to read the sensor to know how fast you are going to make the cruise work
