Hey Dog, here is a link to a list of the legal amount of tint in all 50 states. It should tell you how wide you can make the strip.

Thanks Teach.
I'm not as worried about the thickness of the strip as I am about putting dark tint on the sides. i want no trouble and that's why I chose 35% because it get's a bit dark towards the evening hours especially when you are coming from the front at a 45* angle (such as a cop driving past you)
The front strip should darken up the front windows a bit. I just don't wanna tint half my front window because it's so concave that the sides will be at 8" and the middle at like 2"...lol
I know the tint will have "air pockets" where the black insignia and outline are at the very edge. Not a problem since it's so damn high off the ground!
If i go back for this tint, I think I'll have them put on a 7" strip across the top.

Anyone think a 20% VLT would look silly as a front strip with 35% sides/factory rear 18%, i don't think 35% will do much of anything on the front window. Thoughts?

Also, went outside. bubbles are much smaller and only at the top now. Nothing really on the pass. side(shaded)

There really shouldn't be that many bubbles in it, it can look streaky or hazy but that goes away. The pic makes it look like the outside of the window is wet, is that what it is or is the tint just that bubbly? I have had my windows done recently w/ solorguard and have a couple tiny specs of dirt in them. I even had one retinted and the new tint has some specs in it. The guys at the shop seemed to think it was impossible to keep from getting some specs in the tint, but there were no large bubbles like in your pic.

I have 18% on front windows, and in daylight, it matches well. At night, it's slightly darker than the rears. I'd actually like to get 35% over the rears to darken them a little more. I have also considered getting the whole windshield tinted @ 35% (and not doing the rears).

I think I paid $120 for mine, but I haven't had any issues, nor are there any bubbles.

Also, for the front strip (eyebrow) there is a mark on the windshield which tells you how far down it can go.

I have one on mine and the shop told me about it.

Rich - you ever use those spacers???

I tried them on one side the day i got them, but that was about it. When i get my leveling kit on, i will put them on again and see if i like it. i didn't the first time. they stuck out to far for how skinny the tires are and the front only had 3" or so fender to tire clearance.. I'm also worried about rock chips on the paint. Lots of small stones where I usually drive. There's stone's in my tires almost everytime i leave my driveway. Did you want them back if i don't use them?

I did read about various info being on the glass, but this is useless because every state is different on regulations. Some states are 4" some 6" on the front glass.

Sorry to hear about that. As far as the front strip I would go with a 5% tint. Thats what I have on mine. I got mine done at the tint wizard on Central ave.

if you just got it done today, give it 3 days, then complain about "microfiber particles" and bubbles, etc etc. it usually looks a little rough right after. i went 20 % all around and its perfect, at night sometimes it is a little too dark, but id rather have it a little dark at night, then not dark enough during the day. they can always go and layer the windows, that will darken it, but probaly void the warranty.

When I tinted windows I did get soap bubbles... I used to much soap thats all.. they did go away and the windows looked great.. I dont know if you really wanna play with going any dark just for how **** the State police are here in this wonderful state... As for your tint visor, i did 8 inches but it doesnt look good because you have to cut around the rear view mirror... plus there are lines on the sides of the windshield, if you go past it and get busted for your tint up front you could get a ticket for that also.. depends on how much of a D*UCHE the cops wants to be.... Legal tint on the driver side and passenger side is around 70%.. which means they dont want to see any tint on the front windows... I got my fair share of tickets... I think they are now giving out fix-it tickets where you have to get the paper signed by a local shop when its removed and mail it in.... Its a bunch of Horse SH*T and they dont have anything better to do than mess with ya... Just my 2cents
