Just got the fronts tinted..not happy.
Just got back from local Ziebart. I went there ONLY because they use Solargard film. Topnotch stuff and they give lifetime warranty.
Anyways, I seen a Tahoe that was just pulling out with factory rear and 20% up front. A little darker than what i wanted, especially towards evening hours and dark. I chose to get the 35% because Solargard doesn't have anything in between. A 28% would be perfect...lol
The tint is too damn light(I plan on putting a strip across the front window which should darken up a bit.
There are hairs or micro fibers all through the film and the guy tells me those are just solution bubbles and they will dry out within a week.
Now, I have tinted all my other cars. i chose not to do my truck because i wanted quality tint and something that would match the factory color. i had no idea what color they would call it or if the tint i would purchase online would match, so i paid this time.
I have never had to wait a week. Like 2 days at most. This installer barely even squeegeed the solution from behind the film, not to mention i'm gonna have to go back once it dries to show them that all the crap behind the film.
The first words out of my mouth when we walked to my truck was "There's not one mark in my paint" I'm a picky guy! Just like that. I want no discounts, just keep aweay from the paint. You think that would have been good enough for them not to let me go with a half-*** tint job.
Ohh, I even removed the sill plates at the bottom and pulled off the door panels so the job could be as perfect as possible. Yeah, the tint doesn't even go below the rubber sill when i put it back on, so now, the tint is gonna scrape it everytime i roll my windows down.
idiots.
That's my rant for the afternoon.
2 questions...
Anyone ever have lots of tiny bubbles all over their windows when they got theirs tinted?
Anyone get the front window tinted and how low did you go? I was thinking 6".
2nd pic is to show the bubbles/distorted view from them. I understand the view should be a lil bit distorted until the solution completely dries, but there's a ton of bubbles. Pic is taken from inside the cab with door open.

I've done it myself a few times, and because I get those tiny bubbles, I had the truck professionally done. No, I didn't have any tiny bubbles when they finished. 5 years later, it still looks perfect! Not even the slightest sign of rubbing when I roll the windows up and down.
I'd make them do it right!!!

The guy def didn't squeegee it all the way and I just got off the phone with them because the little bubbles just started to appear when it was sitting in the sun. The guy told me that when you squeegee all the soluion out, you can get "streaking" behind the tint. i know this is true as I've done it myself. he also said that rubbing it constantly like all the other guys do will sometimes scratch the surface even on a scratch resistant film because of repetative motions...etc and can also "roll" the ends of the tint like a pair of scissor and ribbon.
Sounds reasonable and I'm not driving back down there today, so i suppose this will have another day to sit and play out my feelings in the mean time....lol
I can already tell. I'm gonna be crying like a little Biotch until it's done right....lmao This is exactly why I do everything myself! it's perfect everytime.

I had a buddy do it, he used to own a shop but decided to go back to school so he shut it down. Just does it off the side now. My last tint just sucked, and he did mine in less than 45 minutes while talking on the phone. Looks awesome, and did whatever I wanted on whatever window I wanted. Lifetime warranty and used Solarguard film.
You are right, if you don't do it it isn't done right. Thats why I trusted a friend to to it more than a shop. Getting people in and out doesn't exactly lead to quality work.

there are little lines on the windshield that you cant tint past or you will get a ticket
for vision reducing material. had one in my camaro for the tint being less than 35% on my driver and passenger side windows.
dont know about the laws where you live but here in Missouri, nothing less than 35% on front doors, any thing past the front doors is fine, you could even spray paint it.
and the windshield can be any % as long as it doesnt pass the little lines

I paid $99 for the fronts with Lifetime warranty, but it seems to me the Lifetime warraty is about to be fulfilled....lol
I'll give the bubbles a few days, but there are still particles that are gonna be trapped and I'm not gonna tolerate that stuff. You know, from the static cling (i suppose only those that have installed it before know what I mean)

Someone told me that when tinting your windows, take a wire and tape the exposed wire to the window and then another piece to the ground to reduce static cling. Never tried it but what you think dog?
Static cling tint problem and static on the seat problem...lol
