Yep, keep your tires off of your spark plugs. It will break the insulators

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Okay i need some help again guys i THOUGHT my truck was running great again but today while i was driving it just didnt seem like the power was all there. I went back and regapped the plugs all over again to .045 because thats what i found on the internet for my truck, I dont have whatever sticker it is in my engine bay that tells me what to gap them at so can someone with an 03 ram 5.7 tell me what theirs says because i'm scared that .045 isnt correct. I need some help and info on what to do...when i redid the plugs i didnt use champion copper plugs, i used autolite platinum plugs...also, i didnt replace the wires when i redid the plugs, should i have done that also? Any feedback will help. I really hope i dont have to go back and buy the champion plugs and lose out on 55 dollars for the 16 plat plugs i bought but whatever it takes to get my truck back to normal, i'll do it.

i've heard the hemi engine likes the coppers over the platinums, dunno if you get rough idle from it though. have you cleaned the throttle body? i know that can cause a rough idle as well. and yeah, replacing the plug wires causes noticed improvement in idle smoothness, at least it did for me in my old truck.

your gap spec is correct and your problem is the plat plugs go back and get the OE champion copper plugs

All this trouble over copper plugs??? Wow. Are the Hemi engines that picky?

I have the '08 4.7 with 16 plugs. I will probably have the same issue if I don't get copper plugs as well. Maybe we can all learn from this guy's mistakes...

The 08 4.7 requires copper for the top 8 every 30K miles or so.
The bottom ones are platinum and are good for 100K.

If the wires are original on your 03, then they are getting old and it wouldn't hurt to replace them.
I have also heard the copper core run the best. This is why they were put in there from the factory. Copper is a better conductor of electricity than Platinum is. Platinum just last longer.

I agree with RH. Go back and get the OEM Champs, check the gaps on all and see if that cures your problem. I have heard of people running the plats and never having any trouble but I've heard of just as many that there truck ran like crap. I have the Champs in my 5.7 and thats all I'll run except for maybe the NGK's.
