Customization commenced (grey goose)
Yeah so I haven't been online much. I been really busy trying to make it in this Michigan Economy. Anyway, I was looking at rims tires and graphics for quite some time. Of course I am broke so that is all problematic. I decided that I would alter my current parts.
Back in 07 I had hit a mailbox after hydro-planing. It cracked the top of my chrome grille, but I had decided it wasnt so bad so I left it until about a week ago. I took it off and sanded all the chrome plating down to give it a brushed aluminum effect. Then I fiberglassed the inside of the crack, matched everything up, then sanded it all down flat. The 05 grille is actually plastic of a sort. So I bout some valspar plastic clear primer, black paint, and clear coat. I took the honey comb inserts out and painted the outside of them black and then clear coated them to give them A nice shine. I also painted the ram emblem on my grille black. The rest of the grille will be painted pdm color code (graphite grey).
I am still working on the grille but I have a couple pics of how far it has come along.
My rims were fairly scuffed and ruffed to so I sanded the chrome off the plastic and painted them black as well. I have one finished but I have to get some nice tires before I do them all so right now the spare is spinning lol.
I will post more pics once verything has progressed a bit because I am working on my Harley, snowmobile, and boat as well lmao!
Anyways heres the pics Hope you like my idea.....

Modifying what you got has always been the root of American hot rodding. When I started working on my rides there were practically no aftermarket parts so we transplanted parts from different models we considered upgrades. Sometimes engines, Oldsmobile being my favorite, sometimes bumpers. DeSoto's being the hot items. often a channeled body was used to get them really low without destroying the suspension. Oh those were the days (not!). Take a look at my grill it has been shaved. %^)
Anyway good job...

are you planning on painting the grill frame?? Why didnt you mask off your tires.... kinda looks dumb with the paint all over the tires to, modifying what u have is great IF you take your time and do a good job. Just a pointer man, those rims always look nice painted black though
You have a good idea going there, but seriously, take your time while you are doing your modifications to your stock parts. Dont rush it, take the time to fully mask parts off or remove them all together so you dont over spray and give it light coats of paint so you dont get runs like your grill shell has already. If you do it right and take your time its gonna turn out killer but if you take short cuts and dont take the time to make sure everything is good and rush through it its going to show in the end product and its not going to be good.
