Default Common 3rd gen issues?

so Ive been looking at 06-07 hemi 4x4 1500 rams...what are the major issues that i should be aware of when considering these trucks? what problems creep up on these trucks when they get into the higher mileage? it seems that most of the trucks in finding are in the 50-90k range in mileage...

thanks in advance...

I thought you were looking more towards the 4th gen rams? The blend door for the ac is another one that keeps popping up a lot recently on here as well.

we are weighing the upsides of buying a less than new truck cash rather than financing a new one...and ive been coming across some nice 06s and 07s.

use the search function!! damn 3rd gen n00b

seriously though, if it has a factory LSD, have them pull the cover and make sure it isn't roached before you get it. Other than that, I can't think of anything off hand that will be absolutely terrible.

Might end up cracking the dash or having blend door problems, but those problems aren't that prominent, and no way to diagnose before failure.

A good percentage report front end problems, often on new trucks right off the lot. Seems to be assiciated with the coil over IFS fronts that they went to beginning with the 06s. If you looked through this section you'll find dozens of posts complaining of front end wobbles, steering wheel shimmies, all the way up to the dreaded "death wobble" reported by a lot of guys.
This is especially a big issue with leveled and lifted 4x4s, but a few have reported it with stock front ends as well...

I just got mine like a month ago with around 22K on it.On test driving the front rotors where shot.No biggie, got them fixed and had a chatter.Looked it over the PS side tie rod was whooped.Dealer replaced both of them.Driving home from that still had a chatter on any little bump.Got home and looked some more.PS side strut was covered with oil.Why the dealer didnt see this when doing the tie rods is beyond me but they replaced both front struts and now it rides great.Pretty sad though a truck with 22K has so many front end problems but it was all fixed for free.Next time we will upgrade to better struts.

well, we had an 06 all lined up, but they wouldnt budge one bit on the price, even when we pointed out that it needed a tie rod end, 5 tires, and the rack was already leaking. they told me that the racking leaking wasnt a big deal and that they had too many calls on the truck to lower the price.

I like the 06 headlights better than 07/08. The yellow at the bottom looks better to me.
