I would have gotten 4.56s but I heard that you had to grind some of the diff cover from the inside or whatever....I didn't want to have to mess with that. Actually the guy at Moe's said you had to grind some of it out or it would rub.

Most of the Dakota owners on dakota-durango reported a loss of HMPG with 4.56 gears and they love them. With the Rams, it may be more beneficial. Within my SOVA club every single truck, Durango, Dakota and Ram that went to 4.56 gears reported a loss in HMPG. My reason for choosing 4.10s had more to do with boost at high gear RPMs than HMPG. Even going from 3.55s to 4.10s I had a slight loss in HMPG.

In no way am I knocking the 4.56. I like to have all information available before I make a modification.

Well all I know is what happened when I put them on my truck, and when I switched to 4.56's I gained mpg on both city and highway driving. 4.10's are a great improvement as well but after doing months of research on them, the 4.56's had more positives to them than negatives and most of the people I talked to about them who had them on their trucks had either remained the same or gained mpg.

Like you I like to know what each part it does and get as many reviews as possible on them before they make their way on my truck.

Yeah, with my 4.56's, my mileage pretty much stayed the same, not to say that's a bad thing. But I went with 4.56 since I already had 3.92 gears stock, and it wouldn't have been worth the cost to go with the 4.10's.
