The picture sure looks like a standard open differential to me, but if you put one wheel in the dirt and the other on pavement and both wheels spin then it is most difinitely a limited slip.

Everyone keeps thinking that is the way to find out if you have LSD. Does NOBODY have a picture of their diff cover off and showing the LSD?

ok cool, so i guess the reason mine looked weird to me was because coincidentally where the axles stopped was right at the window of the LSD itself. And I could not see the whole unit, but just the spider gears inside it. That is what confused me and made me think it was an open carrier diff.

One more question, were they sealed from the factory with orange RTV? If so I think my truck just had it's first diff fluid change at 72k miles I got the truck at 49k miles and I am the second owner.

The axles would be in the same place regardless of LSD or open carrier?? kinda confused by your logic???
Also, Orange is not used from the factory. He must have had his cover off before. Factory uses either gray or black. Mine's black on my truck.
