Here's why they won't cover it. Insurance Co. make money by selling what? Ahh, Insurance. Why would they extend Houehold insurance to your Automobile when they sell Auto insurance to cover those things??? They just don't. Now I funno what your Grandfather did to get paid, but I promise you Homeowners won't cover stolen tools out of a broken into truck that has insurance on it itself. That's just what Auto insurance is for. By saying Homeowners will cover your truck in a parking lot is like saying you don't have ANY insurance on your vehicle but when your vehicle gets stolen, your Homeowners will cover it. No way Jose.
Think about the guys who have their auto insured through a different company than their HomeOwners. Kind of a problem there don't ya think! Now, unless you specifically require the auto coverage under your homeowners policy which costs additional. YOUR SOL.
