Same size but are they the same kind of tire? A softer rubber will give you better traction...you could also be getting some knock retard down low from the 87 gas.

Have you recalibrated the TPS lately? Turn the key to on until most of the warning lights go out. A couple will stay on, then slowly push the gas pedal to the floor and then slowly release it. This recalibrates the drive-by-wire throttlebody.

Here is the Mopar kit, except the 08 uses a different oil filter with metric threads.

May want to clean the TB as well, (just saw you have an CAI on it). After that and a tune up, reset the truck disconect the negative battery cable and turn on your lights for a bit and after a while reattach everything, OR (not sure which fuse it is on the 07+) but on the 03-06 you can pull the PCM B+ power fuse (#19 on the 03, #23 on the 04-05, and #31 on the 06), after you pull it leave it out, go to the cab of the truck, bucle the seatbelt, turn the ignition to run, wait for three chimes, turn the ignition off and replace the fuse.

It erases the "learned" data in the PCM and allows it to start fresh. This should be done after any significant mod: CAI, Cat-back exhaust, cam, headers. The learned data can cause your truck to be sluggish over time.

Follow-up with recalibrating the electronic throttle - must be done AFTER resetting the PCM: Turn the key to ON (DO NOT START), mash the throttle to the floor and hold it for 5 seconds, while throttle is still to the floor, turn key OFF, wait an additional 5 seconds then slowly release the throttle pedal. This will give you much better throttle response.

Does it beep or anything to confirm that it worked?

It chimes for the fuse I know that because I recently just did, I haven't done the reset for the throttle in a while though so I couldn't tell you off hand.

Default You guys rock

I recently had a very simialr problem. My RPMs fluctuated at idle and would sometimes die when i put it in park. I was about to take it to dodge (which i really didnt want to) when i tried the PCM and throttle reset as was suggested and it seems like its running top notch now! Thanks a lot for the info that everyone posted! BTW, has anyone had headers installed and or know how much that cost?

How come this procedure for calibration is different than that in the FAQ section?
