Default fog light question

i have a 2005 hemi slt and i read in a early post that if you look behind the drive side bumper there should be a red caped wire for the fog lights. i looked at mine and i am pre-wired.... i was wondering if i can hook them up myself ( meaning are they already wired to the work with the headlight switch? ) or go to shop to do a in dash switch hook up like my 1998 ram??

if the wires are already there then id assume that the lights are hooked up to the switch already. doubt they would go through the trouble of putting them there if they werent hooked up to anything.

If you order the fog light kit from the dealer it comes with a separate harness (that you have to run all the way into the cab)and a toggle switch(that you have to mount in the dash). If you want to hook it up like factory( ie. using the red cap plug behind the light) you will need the parts mentioned here: https://dodgeforum.com/m_170973/tm.htm

The harness is from the lights to the red capped plug. The switch replaces your factory switch to include a pull **** for the fog lights. There has been a guy on ebay selling the kit for pre-wired trucks if you want to save time and money. Otherwise it is like a $100 extra to buy the parts mentioned plus the fog lights.

Does this make sense now?

They are there alright and not hooked up to anything. Even a fuse in the fuse block. It is easier to plug and play options at the factory, than to run a harness on trucks that will have the option.

All new trucks are factory wired for fog lights, The Mopar install kit comes with a toggle switch and wiring that must be installed. The easiest but more expensive way is to utilized the factory wiring. You have to replace the headlight switch and buy a jumper wire that goes from the drivers side light to the passengers side light.
Jumper wire part # 56045501Ac $ 36.10
Headlight switch Part # 56045537ac $ 51.35
fog light kit Part #82208102
Wiring and switch can be installed in 15 minutes.
Call me at 1-800-663-2522 if you need advice. ( ask for David)i have the parts and can ship UPS.
