Finished my 26gal to 35gal fuel tank swap
alright i can understand if u are traveling long distnce or make long trips everyday, but damn are u crazy putting that thing in there. I have a 35 from factory and it would easily cost $80 from empty to full. Well i guess u jut got bored then huh!?
Besides, I see what time you posted so now I am curious as to what it is you do at work and what business you work in?
this has been one of the better DIY threads on here lately.....if i could just find a tank, i would go for it. I found one, and stupidly passed it up a few months ago. im kicking myself. Hey, did the overhead pc ever start reading right, or no? doesnt really matter much, im just curious
I do alot of long trips and would really like the bigger tank.
Not to mention a bigger tank will cost more to fill up but will give more miles between fillups. I think that washes out with a smaller tank that you fill up more frequently. You're gonna spend on gas what you spend on gas regardless of the tank size.

Well Ladies and Gentlemen, here is the rest of the story.
As you know when I mounted the tank it was empty and I had to fill it up. I did reset the computer and checked the OHD for DTE and it read 307. This is where the unknown balance to the equation came in.
Well after doing a lot of driving (approx 500 miles worth) my gas hand was dead on "E" and my gas light was on. So I checked the DTE on the OHD and it read 12 miles. So know the question was when I fill up, would I only do 26 gallons or 35 gallons?
So I pulled into my favorite Shell station where that sell non-ethanol blended fuel and filled up with 89 octane. Well the pump automatically cut off at $75 and 29.423 gallons. So I slid my card back in and did another $11.09 and 4.349 gallons. So that was a total of $86.09 and 33.772 gallons.
So the gas hand does read the level correctly as does the gas light.
I went and check the DTE on the OHD and it read 307 again. But even though it might not read the 495 miles I did drive on that last full tank, it does at least read correct DTE in the end on a depleted tank.
So boys and girls, there is your answer to the question of if DTE really works after this swap.

weed u caught me. I was not at home playing sick. That is cool that u took u'r talented self and was able to figure it all out. I give u props for putting that huge a$$ tank in. I guess u will be enjoying the extra mileage u will be getting out of having it. Hard to believe shell still has a cap on there pumps. everywhere i go no one has a cap. I wonder what a 60 gallon one would do for me? to wonder.
