Only really one way to find out, try it. I will hook up the SC and see what the timing is with it on and off and then take some runs with it on and off.

the AC puts more strain because of the compressor and the belt driving it....it is pure imagination!

That is what causes the loss of power. Turn the AC on, the compressor engages and adds drag onto the belt running it.

I don't know how you survive that TX heat without AC. Mine is on all the time bc it is always so damn humid here.

How do you do that in TX? It must be like an oven in the summer, well you said with the windows open, so convection oven.

The PCM knows when the A/C is on and will raise idle, and adjust other engine/trans settings to offset the extra load. If the PCM is going to increase power, it should increase power *at least* to the point to balance the A/C and, more likely, a little beyond.

If your idle is higher, you are further into the torque band when you take off from a stop. So, you have more power with the A/C on.... in normal driving. But, your top end is going to have less power because the A/C is sucking it down.

(speculation, hypothesis, etc)

Same with me, it is the same way in CT. Although, it hasn't been all that bad this year, so far, knock on wood.
