Lowered Trucks: tech and info....
#1603
I just recently lowered my '08 Big Horn 2/4.5 and it's hit 40,000 miles and I need tires. Thought about a Destination S/T for $755 out the door. Here's the deal, I found a guy selling a set of Boss 313 black and polished 24x10, +12mm wheels on Nitto 305/35/24's. He said they have 1,000 miles on them. He told me $1,200 for them. If they'd fit I think I'll step up and pay $400 more and do a 24. Here's another question, I pull my 67 Chevy C-10 on a 16ft trailer. How would that do? lol.

Let's see some pictures.... I haven't heard of anyone here running 24's dropped.

I said if they would fit and not give me problems I'd buy them for $1,200. They seem like a good price because my tires would be $755 for the 275/45/20 Destination S/T. I didn't know if they would fit with that bs but I'm running a 33in tire on a 2/4.5 drop now so that 24 is showing 32.4. I'll just get new tires for my stock 20's and save $450. I don't HAVE to have 24's, I like my stockies just fine and I don't wanna raise it back up or sacrifice possibly towing reliability of a larger wheel with smaller tires.

i say you should be fine towing with the 24's. my only concern is having such a low profile tire with alot of weight on the back. it seems like it would be a rough ride though. and if you were to hit a pot hole or bump at speed... and think about how much camber that weight would cause. that small of a profile with that much pressure in the tires, and driving distances. that might wear the 24'' tires prematurely. i mean if your careful you could do it. but if you dont watch the road, you could prolly ding up the rims. but over all for flat towing in perfect conditions, id say you should be good.

with your truck elevated on jack stands, place hydraulic jack under the rear axle and raise it until the weight is removed from the leaf spring. loosen and remove shackle bolts, and remove the stock shackle. install your new lowering shackle, tighten bolts, donot over tighten(this will cause squeaks and binding) remove the jack and jack stands your. ready to go!!!
i also have diy directions for o/l leaf removal....
