Lowered Trucks: tech and info....
ill chalk it out then post some pics to get your opinions. as for the flip kit, i have one on my truck. some kits come with adjustable shackles so you can get a 2", 4", or 6" drop. but you have to consider you already dropped it 3.5'' flipping the rear axle. you can get aftermarket drop shocks like i did, or some kits come with shock relocator brackets so you can still use your factory shocks. as for the ride, it rides just the same as it did at stock height.
Will that level it out if the rear is dropping 3.5" just from the flip? I dont want to lower it any lower than that. I want to throw a set of caltracs on and their kit needs to have a flip kit on it OR pay an additional cost for a different price to make it work at the stock height.
no it wont level it out, after the flip the rear will be lower than the front. you'd have to drop the front just a tid bit. my rear is lowered 4.5 inches, so to level it out i had to drop the front 2 inches. they dont make traction bars for the stock setup? how much extra would it be to make it work with stock height?
They do but from what I have read up on the standard traction bars is that it ends up being a rougher ride than the caltracs. The part is only an extra $50 but I was hoping the flip kit wouldn't drop it that low (I didn't think the SRT-10 was that much lower than a stock SLT) and give it a better stance.
yeah mine is flipped + shackles rides great. i think you will need longer u bolts. just cut one coils off the front springs that will drop you 2"
here is a write up from another site. i asked him how it is 8 months later and he still loves it. this may be a little more drop than you want but you could add shackles to lift it back up.
"well everyones been asking how i droped my truck for hardly nothing...i started out goin to a place that sales utility trailer parts ..an i bought some axle perches for 6bucks...took my factory bumpstops off an did the flip an welded the perches in..i got 6inches of drop i used all my stock hardware (ubolds shakles etc) for the shocks i just went to orilleys an found some shorter ones..i think i paid 25 bucks for the set of shocks . now if your wanting a 4.5 drop in the back just do the flip an all you need to get is some longer shackles to lift it the 2-2.5 inches
..belltech sales em they're around 65 bucks.. just go to a parts house an ask for some belltech drop shackles for a ford are chevy..
for the front i just cut a full coil off.. which gives 2inches of drop...an cut the bump stops off..
the truck rides wayyyyy better than stock...an looks alot better ...
every were i looked they sale 2/4.5 drops for around 500 bucks.. i did mine
2/6 for around 30bucks in less than a half day by myself..."
