Lowered Trucks: tech and info....
Oh, then I've got some bad info lol. No strut just shock inside the coil that must come out first? The guy that was goin to lower this said the new Chevys do have struts and my buddy has a 07 Ram and he has a squeek in the front and always called it a strut, and I thought the Dodge dealer told him this. No strut makes me feel somewhat better lol. Some people chain coils, I've just always let the jack off slowly and let it drop out.
ok guys i think now that we aftbig on the boards we need him in here to help out with tips i nvited him thru thumpers thread sorry your thread got jacked bro but it was for a good cause we needed that type of arguement on here for us lowered guys im glad he had awesome argument and great points ..... come in aftbig we welcome you....
"did you have to cut into the c-notch? also what is the bump stop? where is it located? i really wanna avoid cutting that cnotch like the mgaugheys kits said i should.
what exactly did the 3/5 kit come with? any dealers you recommend buying
it from? ill prolly be buying this soon and ordering some srt10 replicas real soon, prolly around when i get my tax return"
no i did not notch the frame no need to. i know people with a 6" that haven't notched they are ok. the bump stops are exactly that. pieces of rubber that are inbetween your suspension components and the frame to absorb shock. you rkit should have replacements ones that are a lower profile than the stockers.
here is a pic of what my front looked like when i got it. i was basically riding the frame and felt every bump. i just cut everything out. the metal cup and all. i have had no proble since. moes sell really low profile bumpstop if you want them. there is one above each upper control arm.

i guess i dont have pics of the rear anymore but they are located right above the axel on the frame on either side. they should just bolt on.
look on ebay for the kit and for the wheels. you can find the oem wheels and tires from 1100 to 1500. kit should be about 400.00-700.00

That's just fine, I started that thread back in '08 lol. Not too sure how a bagged guy with a one off frame can help me will my front coils but welcome to the Lowered section! I'll do my coils this weekend and I'll be 2/4.5 on 33's lol, man these tires are massive on these 20's.
doing a bit of research here and there.
i really like belltechs 2/5 drop except for the fact that it makes u change the springs up front. i REALLY want to avoid doing that. i called a shop down here in miami and they also have mchaugys (forgot how its spelled) 4/6 drop. it comes with spindles, springs, flip kit, etc.
i talked to the guy, i only want a 2 or 3 inch drop in the front and the lowest drop i can go in the back without cutting the frame and i want to avoid changing the front springs as much as possible so that the truck can ride better. he says he is going to try and find me the drop spindles for the front which gives a 2 inch drop. and ill prolly just try to get the 5 inch rear flip kit from belltech instead of buying the kit.
so basically ill do a 2/5 drop with drop spindles in the front for the 2" drop and the flip kit in the rear for the 5" in the back.
what do you guys think?
on another note i found a place that sells a 3/5 drop but the brand of the kit is called Western Chassis. anyone heard of this kit and used it?
thanks in advance for the advice

the spindles up front help retain a better ride. that plan sound good to me. they have the mcgaughys drop spindle on ebay all the time and you may find some locally on craigslist. there was a set listed here for like 200 or something a while back. just check prices..
well usually if u change the front springs the vehicle rides a bit rougher than if you change the spindles (from what everyone tells me) so id like to have the truck ride as smooth as possible or as smooth as i have it now
