one side at a time ...use 2 jacks one for the axle and 1 for the truck body...jack em up till no pressure unbolt wheel, four nuts on top of leaf plate, small nut on top of leaf plate...remove plate and u bolts, undo shock bottom bolt, lower axle, take bolt out of leaf pack, pry off o/l leaf....reassemble backwards the way you took it apart....real easy once you get in there and realize it....good luck
Thanks Jusjay727,
What's o/l leaf ..... Is that something I can do myself? Will it change the ride? ... She does a lot of highway driving during the week. I'm new to all this ... Sorry for sounding stupid ... but I just don't know about these type of modifications ..... Still a newbie ...

It has been a long time since I pulled my O/L, but it seems the spring pack had a bolt that held it all together. I had to replace the bolt because it was too long and didn't have enough thread to pull the spring pack back together with the O/L spring removed. With the O/L spring removed I aligned the remaining springs using a philip screw driver and a "C" clamp. Pinched it tight and removed the screw driver and stuck my new bolt in place and tightened it up. Clean all the threads and anti-sieze them before putting it back together. I used an impact wrench which is not necessary but makes short work of everything. good luck. OBTW, my O/L springs appeared to have never been in contact with the other springs. I pull a VTX 1800 in a 12' enclosed motorcycle trailer. Not real heavy but not light either.
This may have been answered already, but I was looking at getting the McGaughy’s 2” drop shackles and had a question about shocks. With the drop shackles, do you need to get shorter shocks, or are stock size shocks ok?
you can clamp the overloads and you'll get the same amount of drop if you took it out. You can get leaf spring clamps at auto zone for about $10 or $15. when you clamp them clamp them at the front and it is also supposed to help with wheel hop. Doing it this way you can also take them off if you need to haul/tow something. i will prob end up doing this when i get my shackles

The clamps and o/leaf would look better if i had smaller tires i have 275/60r20 my friend has a slightly smaller tire than me and his looks perfect (He has the 2" shackle and claps as well) I will porbably take the leaf out this spring break when i get my new tires.
