Aftermarket Hemi Heads
I have seen alot of aftermarket, or ported hemi heads out there. Which ones are the best to go with? And along with that what cam combo with what heads?

My guess is a streetable 1/4mile king......lol
Isn't that what most guys want?
I'd actually love to get just a towing cam to add to my low end along with some 4:56's.
I think the Ram would be a total beast with those 2 combo's and relatively cheap if I do the work myself.
I did hear that the ported 5.7L heads flow as good as the ported 6.1L heads and have much better low end than the 6.1's or have I heard wrong? So based on that, the ported 5.7L heads will be much better for a street truck than 6.1's will. i think Sherdaon's websits had stated the flow specs along with perf. specs????? cannot remember. I'mma gonnna go check'em out...hheheheheee
Dog, as you know, I have a torque cam. Low end torque/towing/rv cams don't really benefit from heads. My cam is basically a modified sidewinder design. I would see very little gain from heads simply because it just doesn't rev high enough to benefit from increased airflow.
Just throwing that out there.

That's why I would do just the cam and gears if it were me. I was explaining the heads for the other guy....lol
I swear they said the ported 5.7L heads will not drain low end but only improve it. I think that's how Chrysler got some extra ponies out of the '09's??????
I love how manufacturers use aftermarket companies to improve upon their own products...lmao
Either way....I don't have $3k to dump into heads!
Here's a link for specs

It's not so much whether a set of heads will flow more air. The real question is do a set of heads flow enough air for a given cam. In the case of a lowend torque cam, stock heads already flow more air than the cam can move. The real bottle necks are at the throttle body and the exhaust. This is where a ported tb and a set od headers can really help.
Mind you, I am talking specifically about low end torque cams and not cams in general.

I have a custom grind inertia cam. It has a little more torque than a sidewinder. I was running it on a diablo tune, but I am currently running the SC beta tune. I still have the mds lifters, but they are disabled with the tuner. The only downside is that the mds lifters are noisy.
