Please keep us posted. I have an 08 quad cab auto with the 4.7L. Mine runs well even in hot weather. I even ran Ethanol in it when gas passed $4.00 a gallon (it was 2.49 at the time). The truck even ran fine on that stuff. It gets hot here in the south but we are at lower altitude. My build date is May of 08. Good Luck.

My 99 Durango is a 5.9, my wife loves than car.
I think it reminds her of the old 79 Dodge Aspen with the slant 6 she drove in the late 80s/earlier 90s. Her dad found it in the proverbial "old lady's garage" with low miles and all it needed was a new carb.

The verdict is in: Problem solved. The last visit to the dealer did the trick, but I am still not 100% sure just what they did.
I called the Dodge head service tech and thanked him for his efforts in finding what turned out to be a very elusive problem. He said he thought it was a combination of different things, but mostly the fan clutch and transmission shift programing.
One thing I did notice was that the new fan clutch is a whole lot bigger than the original one they replaced, I kinda think that may have been the major culprit all along. In any event that Ram reall kicks a.. now, as it should. The dual plug per cylinder 310 hp motor is a winner, when it runs right!

For anyone that may have an interest in a 4.7 losing power on hot days, my truck went back to the dealer today with disappointing results.
I was told by the head service tech that they acknowledge the issue, the truck really does lose a LOT of power when the under hood temperatures are hot, but they say that this is normal! They also said they did a comparison with another '08 that came in on trade and it behaved the same way, now that is indeed troubling.

I do drive -08 4.7L (~20K miles) RAM and I have not experienced any noticeable difference in power - hot or cold. I do not know how hot it gets in Tahoe, but I would say that TX heat is (at least) comparable what you are experiencing (>100F), thus I would suspect that altitude (thin air) plays role in your case???
However, based on response they've given to you, I do agree with "bluedsteel" that the dealer do need a new "head tech"
