That's why I bought a $24 locking latch from Moe's. At least it will slow them down.

Dang, that sucks..At my dads dealership they had a WHOLE bunch of them stolen off of the new trucks as they were coming in..Apparently, there must be a big black market for truck tailgates around here.

I hear about tailgates being stolen all the time, how come? I know they are easy to steal quickly, but I mean, there are only so many trucks out there, are so many people damaging their tailgates that there's such a black market for them?

this was a huge problem in my area a while back. the cops caught the guys in a big box type rental truck used to move furniture... they had over 200 tail gates in there, they were making their way south from StL

They would right after I pay my $1000 deductible... Hardly makes it worth it. I'm going to call my insurance agent this week and find out what my rate would be if I lowered the deductible. Also, I have rhino liner on it, so who knows if they would cover that too. either way I'm out a good chunk of change.

I started to wonder about that too, but I think your right... the VIN is not on the tailgate.

Sorry about the tailgate. Was thinking about it because of this thread, so I checked our insurance. 1k deductible. That would be enough to **** a person off.

That thing is sweet. My old boss had his truck stolen two years in a row in Arizona using that same method of popping the handle off at the lock. Both times however he was lucky enough to get his truck back. Thief's probably realized they stole a Ferd both times and abandoned it.
