Default Easy lift Tailgate spring.

I installed an Easy Lift Tailgate assist spring from LMC Truck on my Ram this weekend. It really does lighten up the tailgate. My youngest boy could lower and raise the tailgate without the possibility of being knocked out if it slipped. Had to drill two holes but, hey, it is worth it. Try one out guys. I will try to get pics this week posted.

Lol tell your boys scouts to build some muscle I didn't think they were that heavy but the one on my Ford is rediculous.

I think mine was like $22 shipped. Install took half an hour, but you do need another set of hands to take the tailgate in and out. not difficult at all.

i got some 11 and 12 year olds, one kid who is physically disabled, and a bunch that are just plain old stupid. they all benefit from it.

I decided to get it after one kid closed the gate (didn't latch it all the way), went to climb over it, and it opened up under him. he belly flopped on to the gate/bed...friggin hilarious. wish i had a picture of the look on his face.

I as looking at the gas shock that mounts next to the cable (Can't remember the exact name). Anyone have one of those? I saw a video of it on you tube a while back and it was really easy, no drilling. Something about replacing a stock bolt with a supplied bolt. Wish I could remember the name of it...

OEM Mopar costs $50 off ebay shipped. The tailgate on the Ram is pretty well balanced compared to revious years: however, my father's '09 F-150 tailgate is weightless. It has counter weights in the lower half to offset the weight. The only thing that i don't like is that my fingers slip off the edge. That's why i love the spoiler lip. If you don't have a spoiler lip, then a tailgate can feel really heavy and slippery when being lowered or lifted. Matter of fact. i hate his tailgate because of that.

It is is called an EZ-Down I have one on my tailgate and it really makes it nice when opening the tailgate. keeps it from slamming open just takes some getting use to the time it takes to lower when you are in a hurry.
