Question What is this? And Where does it go???

While I was installing my sway bar I found this hose just sitting under the back of the truck and I do not know where it goes. It is tied in with the brake lines... Any Ideas?

so it serves no purpose except as a vent line? Well thats good to know, I was messing around trying to get a plate installed and moved a few things around and the hose dropped on my face... I thought I disconnected something important for a while but it was plugged... it was one of those "what the hell is this?" moments.

haha, yeah... the perverbial "awe crap" moments. i had one of those the other day when i was changing my tranny filters. i was slowly prying the trans pan off when it busted loose and i got 6 quarts of trans fluid all over myself and my garage floor. at that point i figured, F*ck it... im already covered in it, i might as well finish now.

Actually its the breather for the rear axle. Looks exactly the same as the breather on the front of my 2500's axle. Zip tie it high so it satys dry and water doesnt find itsd way into the dif. housing.

So is this Dodge's answer to keeping water out of the rear diff? I remember seeing a thread about that, does this just simply relocate the vent hole higher so water has a harder time getting in?

Wel the only thing I would question about it being for the rear diff is that it is tied into the brake lines and I am positive of that. The main brake line ties into the fitting then branches off going to the drives side and passengers side brake lines and then this hose comes straight up from the top of that fitting.
