Default Need help deciding what gears to get???

So either tomorrow or Monday I am going to get either 4.11 or 4.56 gears for my truck (03 1500 4.7 2wd with 20"s and 3.55 gears right now). So my question is which gears should I get? I don't want to regret not getting the 4.56 if I get the 4.11 however I do drive on the freeway some and I don't want my rpms to be at 3k going 75mph. How much higher will the rpms go with 4.56 at 70mph cause right now they are at about 1900rpm at 70mph. I do tow and I know they will help alot and they will also help with around town driving as the 3.55 are really bad for towing. Also I am getting them installed at 4 wheel parts and they quoted me $650 for the gears and install. I think this is a good price?? Also I read some where that if I get the 4.11 they will really be more like 3.7? since I have the 20" wheels? So then I would really need to get the 4.56s. Thanks for the help in advance!!!

I believe I read on amother forum, that a guy with a 4.7 running 20's was turning 2200rpm at about 70.
There is a calculator somewhere that you can use.
Someone will chime in.
I believe that 4:56's with 20's is the way to go.
Hope this helps?
Al

Does not matter what your rim size is, just the overall tire diameter. I'm running 33" tires, 4.56 gears, and turning 2400rpm at 70mph.

Get the 4.56 gears, they are the better choice out of the two you listed.

Remember, the 17s and the 20s have close to the same rolling diameter...the 17" tire just has a bigger sidewall.

I have the 4.10s with mine. At 70, I am running about 2000rpms.

Ok so I call them back this morning and they say it will be $859 instead of $625. So I am like you told me yesterday it would be $625 for everything to do the install so why is it so much more? Then he says they didn't quote me for the master install kit and bearings ect... So I don't know now if I am going to get the gears or not. Does $859 still sound like a good price?? Seems a little high to me?

Is the $859 including the new gears or just the cost of the install?
