I could use your advice
Don't do it, there is a Toyota dealership right up the street from me so I went up and took one out for a drive just bc I was bored and curious one day. Not impressive at all.
Don't you remember the horrible hemi tick he had and how many times he had to take it back to the place he bought it?
$20k does seem like a lot for a truck that is 4 years old.
Here in Jersey where everything is expensive, a 25% discount seems kinda light. The 09s are getting scarce, but $40K trucks are going in the $26-27K area. I thought about it my self, but my 04 has an option I can not get on the new ones, it's paid for. seriously, you may benefit from the trade in way they calculate the sales tax. Here it is on the net purchase price after the trade in. 7% on $15,000 comes to $1050
As far as my current 2005, it has no problems. After I test drove a 2007 Hemi a few days ago, I realized it makes the identical ticking sound as my truck does, so it put that to rest.
At the moment, I am not selling my truck for $20,000. I have it on craigslist for $18,000. And if the buyer wants the extended warranty with it I am charging $19,800. My 2005 KBB's at $19,995.
I am very happy with the amount they are giving me for the trade in, it took about three days of negotiating to get them to go up from their original $12,400. They want $31,900 for the 2009 truck including taxes, doc fee, and the lifetime bumper to bumper warranty. It's an SLT QC with the 20" wheels, dual exhaust, powersliding rear window, satellite radio for a year and many other nice features. The payment is quite hefty, but the theoretically, the truck should last for well over 10 years. I love my 2005, A LOT, but I can't see myself getting $16,000 for a trade in 2,3, or 4 years from now once the miles start piling up.
