You still lost me here... who is they? Are you talking about a dodge dealership or an aftermarket performance company? And if the warranty was in writing and agreed on I cant see what the problem is, if they sold him a pos and it was broken or bad the warranty in writing should have covered it to either fix it or replace it... Can you guys clear that up a little? Just trying to understand a little more.

Also, what does the lifetime warranty for the 09's cover? is it bumper to bumper or drivetrain only?

I'm so glad i put in the effort to put my wife on an all expense paid trip to nursing school when i was in the oil field. sucked when i got laid off but i had a pretty good cushion to fall back on. if we didn't do that i would be out a house and truck by now.

Some what of a long story but here is the narrative if you care to read...

Back in February of 2008 my transmission fried up on me on my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. It had a 5" overall lift with big 35" mud tires; just really loved that truck. Anyways, I had it sent over to New England Transmission to be assessed. After they told me I was going to need a new transmission, I asked them what they offered for something that could be beefier than just a stock unit. I didn't want the transmission being fried up again, especially since it had the oversized tires and because I like to drive my trucks hard occassionally. Anyways, Mr. Pelky told me they could build me a "performance unit" for my truck that would be able to handle the big tires and racing. He also told me this unit would come with a 3 year/70,000 mile warranty. The total bill for the new unit including a heavy duty transmission cooler and a deep dish pan came out to a little over $4,000. I actually had to take out my first loan to afford it, but I felt it was worth doing it right because I anticipated keeping the truck for a long time. Anyways, after the job was completed, I instantly recognized that the truck was shifting terribly and that the truck seemed to be strained by the shift points on the transmission. It would bounce between gears, rev the motor up on bumps etc. Finally, after months went by bringing it back over a dozen times to be fixed, he kicked me out. They ended replacing a few sensors and he tried charging me over $600. When I refused to pay the bill he told me to get the **** out. So I had no choice but to hire a lawyer and see to it that I would have the stock transmission put back in and the excess money refunded. After three months went by going back and forth, he agreed to replace the unit. Once the stock transmission was back in the truck, I no longer liked the truck. By this time I had removed the lift and big tires and broughten it back to stock height because I didn't feel like dealing with the excuses anymore. And this is why I am in my '05 today lol.

Yep, he finally called me back today. He told me that he couldn't get any black ones (this is gay). I then told him that my brother and my dad were interested in the Rams as well because of the lifetime wraps. I told him we would all come in and buy an '09 Ram if he'd get us out the door with the lifetime bumper to bumper for $27k a piece. He laughed at this and said no way. He went on to say the truck already had a $10,000 discount and that he had no wiggle room to go lower than the $31,900 out the door price. So I said okay and ended the phone call.

Well it sucks that you weren't able to make the deal. But at least you didn't put yourself in a position where you were buying more truck than you can afford. And you never know, he might just call you back and accept your offer.
