First thing first, can you realistically afford the monthly payments right now with no buffer? Looking a head, is there anything that you should be saving up for that you could put that extra cash towards? Moving out? New home? School loans? There are unexpected things you need to plan for in advanced and if getting the new truck means that if something comes up you wont have any money to put towards this new problem or situation then I would not get it.

If anything take the extra money you would be putting towards the new truck and save it If it is an extra $250 a month, take that and put it away, in a year you'll have an extra 3 grand, in two years an extra 6 grand, 3 years an extra 9 grand and so on. If you do that, who cares what your truck value ends up at in the next few years. Lets say you wait 3yrs to get something new, something that is exactly what you want it to be, you sell your truck, obviously the loan amount will be less if not paid off, sell it for 10,000 take the 9000 you have saved up and you have a hell of a down payment.

Again, a fantastic point. I want to make it clear that I appreciate the way all of you have been so helpful to me as of yet. It's nice to know I can get input from a group of nice well informed guys.

Realistically, I probably could afford the payment, however, I probably wouldn't have much money towards the other things in life. Right now with my $349 a month payment, I do pretty well and still have enough leeway to afford the other things in life. The only reason I'm contemplating the new Ram is because of the lifetime bumper to bumper they are offering. That's a pretty big deal to me, especially since how much driving our family does and the family business we own. Even my dad and my brother are heavily considering dodges (which they've never been particurlary fond of) because of this lifetime wrap dodge is offering. I am still weighing my options out. It's hard looking at a new truck when the '05 I have now is nearly perfect. The salesman did not call me back today which surpised me, so I will wait till her calls me back until I make an offer.

If your main reason for upgrading is the lifetime warranty, think of it this way...Put the extra money you'd be spending on the $528 payments and put it in the bank, you will be able to repair anything that breaks on your truck 10 times over and still have money leftover to buy a Honda Civic for a beater car while you are repairing the 2005. FYI $528 x 72= $38016.00

hell you could even take some of the cash you save and put it towards renewing the waranty you have now. It will sure be alot cheaper then spending the cash on a new truck.

All I know is that I will be mighty envious if my brother and my dad both go buy new '09 Rams lol. That would be a tough pill to swallow as lame as that sounds..

My brother is currently trying to sell his restored F350 because he is ready to move on and get into a reliable four door truck. The only truck he wants is a Tundra, but he's finding all of them are so expensive; even the '07s. He thinks that at least if he's going to spend the big bucks on a USED Tundra, he has to consider looking at a NEW ram that offers the lifetime wrap. My family is tired of paying outrageous repair bills on our older vehicles and this is why we are heavy on the warranties these days. All I have to do is look at my 2001 Ram. Had those ****ers not ****ed me on my $4,000 performance transmission I'd probably still be in it today, but that's how it goes when you pay for stuff on a vehicle that is no longer warrantied...your susceptible to getting your nuts clipped at any time.

How many times have you been screwed over by warranties in the past? And you are STILL looking for one?

Follow the others' advice. Save that money. You have an awesome truck that you've already put some money, time, and effort into. Keep it for a while, save money for once, rather than spending it. Heck, spend that saved money on more upgrades.

As far as that transmission goes, we 2nd genners warned you from day 1 about that. You didn't listen, that loss is your own fault. I am not going to sugar coat it. You loved the sound of that junk warranty they offered, and where did it get you?

Thats my point. You are going about this bass ackwards. When you go to buy something, you look at the warranty as a feature or a perk, you don't go shopping for the warranty.

are you saying you got screwed over by a factory waranty because you put performance parts on the truck or that you got screwed by the performance part waranty?

I think the payment is way to high either there is something wrong or you dont have the best of credit. We could of got a 09 price was 38,900 after all the rebates and stuff we got to 27 something and with no money down the payment wasnt all the bad and that was with a trade I dont remember what the payment was but it wasnt in the 500. My dad didnt want that kind of payment since he doesnt know how long his job will last and wants to have money to be able to spend on other things. So we looked at used and I ended up putting his truck on craigslist for 3,000 more then what they were going to give him and it sold. So we ended up finding a 07 with 13,000miles still had factory warranty and was 22,000 got payment to 308 without trade in we put 2 or 3,000 down. salesmen even said its cheaper to not trade in cause they add money for inspections, sending it off to get it sold since it had 150,000miles. Also to add 2009 is the only year for the life time warranty(2010 will not offer it) and no matter what happens to chrysler their warranty will always be backed up.
