Default where is this extra 40 h/p on the hemi?

I test drove a 09 2500 quad cab SLT 4x4 373 ltd slip hemi with a automatic, 6sp manuals are no longer a option on the gas 2500 trucks, so that rules out a new ( hemi 2500 ) dodge truck!

My 06, being a manual transmisson was never built for acceleration and the new 09 was quicker, but the automatic was just lost down shifting or up shifting, I admit I'm so used to calling the shots with gear changes.

I admit the 09 hemi sounds more agressive and snarky than my 06 hemi with true dual ex.

On the highway, this truck was lost, on hills, this truck was violently down shifting or up shifting to maintain 70 mph on hills, my 06 would lose speed on the same hill but my cruse would never cut out.

AS for the ride, my 06 2500 is a nicer truck ( all in the new tires) handeling was just like my 06, not a vast differance betwean a 09 quad cab 4x4 to a reg cab 06 2500

I'm not won over with the new 6.7 CTD, but its better than a 5.7 in a 09 2500

Dodge, your pushing me to keep my old 85,000 km 06 2500 !!!!

Welcome to the world of the Dodge Ram automatic transmission. Sounds like the autos in the new Ram have the same issues as the auto in the 3rd gens.

Isn't the 09 the same trans as gen 3 with a few tuning tweaks?

Buy a tuner and I bet all those little issues would be fixed.

Yep Frog, it is the same old 545RE. I have read that even though, these engines have more power, they have even more torque management built into the stock tuning. I really wish they would step up and build a stronger, more efficient transmission like Ford did with the new 6-speed auto. It really woke up the underpowered 5.4L.

My stock 09 is noticably quicker than the 05 I had. Comparing apples to apples, that being a RCSB 4x4 Hemi. I broke down and ordered a Diablo this weekend.

You know this is gonna bite, thier are better gas drive trains in a 2500 truck than dodge, Ford is not one of them.

I love my 6sp with the hemi, For dodge to jump ship with not having a option in the 09 year for 6sp manual trans insures I will never buy a 6sp hemi 2500, yes, I;m a rare crazed bird who prefers a manual trans.

What is dodge really thinking here, is the 09 2500 Ram a cross bred mis match of this and that before the new 010 comes out?

By chance, would anybody know if the 010 Ram 2500 can be built with a 6sp manual?

AS a point of referance, my 09 GMC 2500 work truck has a 6sp auto with a mnaul shift option, a auto behind in the hemi in the 09 2500 is out classed by Chevy-GMC.
