Default 7 litre

I'm also on the Charger Forums with our GoManGo Charger and Arrington makes a 440 motor. They are getting some great HP and Torgue at some wild $$$. I' m very interested in what everyone has to say about the 5.7 in my ram. Still wanting to MOD!!

Wow, been gone a while and people in heated discussion over turbo/supercharger.

The baseline is it doesn't matter which route you go to achieve the number you want, cause in the end it all comes down to........money. The more you spend, the bigger and badder your engine is gonna be. I started this thread thinking maybe there was some magical website out there that "caters" to us guys with 4.7L's.

Is Airram on this forum? If he is, PM me.

well i dont have a 4.7 in my 02 ram anymore, because im swapping in a 5.7 outta a 05 durango, but when i did have the 4.7 in it, it was def sluggish and the best thing i added for the most power and torque increase was a Superchips powerpack, it was quite the difference, i also built a dual ram air intake from Spectre parts, a Summit Racing Equipment dual exhaust, Power Aid throttle body spacer, |E3 plugs, all royal purple liquids, and 91 or higher octane, and let me tell you when i was all set and done it ran awesome, it obviously was just a hopped up 4.7, but i could beat quite a few cars, and keep up with most others, not to say it was a viper, but def felt like a brand new hemi does, course now i actually do have a hemi in it, cant wait to start it when im done with the swap!!

So even sticking a 6.1 inthe truck would not work (or at least here it would not). Now I do not know if or what you could do to make it legal. I know that if you were to go from lets say your 4.7 to the new 09's 5.7 you would have to go to the dmv and fill out all the paper work to change the vin to reflect the new engine.

Don't ask, don"t tell

A 6.1L and 392 look just like a 5.7L so with a Hemi hat on, nobody will know the difference

And I'm guessing that most state inspectors wouldn't really know the difference between a 4.7 and 5.7 if it had a 4.7 hat on it. Some may, most, probably not. When we had emissions testing here, it was just a bunch of younger, minimum wage employees that knew very little about cars.

Yeah, I noticed. Just trying to find headers is difficult. When you find them they're super expensive. LOL. So give me some ideas? If I could just get the parts to forge the inside of my engine, then building a custom turbo system would be ok. I don't know where to find the internals though. Anybody got anything?

Eventually I will forge my internals but the stock 4.7L can take alot boost. I was running 14psi on mine with minimal knock alarm until I destroyed my 3.25" pulley and spacer, lol. Right now I'm runnng the 3.5" pulley until I can have another 3.25 custom made.

IMHO the best power adders for the 4.7L are Cams and a tuner. Right now cams are hard to find but they are out there. Definately look at opening up the exhaust, it helped me out alot. I'm running JBA headers, here is a set that would fit your truck.

Really? So, how much of a gain would I see with a cam swap and a dyno tune? Cause usually when you do a cam swap you do head work too. So, leave the stock heads alone and just do the cam swap? Hmm. Yeah, I know Airram has done the cam swap. His truck sounds so badass. But, I would have to change out the rear gearing to a lower gear ratio. I thought I heard him say that in order to benefit from the cam swap I would have to swap my 3.23's, or whatever is in there, for some 4.54's. Which is gonna cause my highway mileage to go to sh*t. LOL. My dad has 4.54's in his Nova. Wow, yeah doing like 45 mph keeps the rev's kinda high, I couldn't imagine what 60 is like....LOL.

Also, how restrictive are the stock Cats? I know when I had my Z28, may she rest in peace, buying the "high flow cats" was pointless. I had headers on her and flowmaster mufflers. Never had a problem with the flowmaster's rusting out, as they say on here, or being too restrictive. LOL.

So, after the headers, which I am buying soon, do I just delete the cats or buy "high flow" cats?
