Default Protect the Fog Lights!

Our 2008 QC has the factory fog lights under the bumper, or maybe I should say it had fog lights under the bumper. One of them has the glass lens busted out, and the other one has a broken bracket, and was hanging by the wire when I saw it! I assume they were both the victim of rocks/mud/birds/whatever, and this will happen again when I get them replaced. What can I do to protect the fog lights from being broken again?

Ive seen lots of people around here with a plexi glass looking cover that goes over the front of the fog light hole...couldn't even see it.

Default fog lights

i dont know if this is the way you want to go. but you can buy ranch hand bumpers that have a screen over it to protect them.

Are the plexiglas covers available somewhere or are they something you make yourself?

Just a thought, but how about using the gutter screen material? I'm thinking you could either have it sit flush on the light, or bend it so it sits flush with the bumper and a couple inches away from the light. Just gotta figure out how to secure it.

Something that you would make yourself, but as already stated, it would have to be thick.
The OEM Hella Foglights have thick glass to them. if a rock breaks through those, what makes you think a piece of plastic will stop a rock?
Seems like a lot of work for no reason at all.
Most of the time when rocks get thrown up, your driving too close to the person in front of you.
The plastic would have to be so thick that i think it would distort the output and clarity of the light.

Ya know, I don't think I've ever seen a broken fog lamp in a 3rd gen around here. But now that I said that, I'll go out and mine will be all busted. I drive thru 2 construction zones each way to work.
