Well according to Jason his 285/70r17's didn't rub w/ everything else stock, so I think they'll be fine w/ either one. Here is the thread where he posted https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen...reg-cab-2.html, there's a pic of his truck before he leveled w/ the 285's on there.

That's a good thread, thanks for directing me to that! Would an alignment help prevent throwing off the speedometer a decent amount? I mean I'll be going for the alignment anyway but I'm just curious if that would help the speedometer.

If you go with a larger tire, an alignment won't help with your speedo being right or wrong, you would have to change the speedo gears.

Yeah, they have websites with calculators that can tell you your new speed with the specifics of your old and new tire size. good luck bro.

To correct the speedo for different tire sizes you just need a programmer like superchips. If you don't have one then your local tire shop or dodge dealer can change the speedo so it will read correctly for the new tires.

How much is a ballpark range for the dealership to do something like that? I'm sure the price differs with dealerships and whatnot though.

I can't help you on that one, I haven't upgraded my tires yet. Give them a call and ask, it's no big deal so it shouldn't be too much. Maybe you should try and get a superchips for christmas, get some performance, maybe some mpg's, and the ability to change your tire size whenever you feel like it.

Good point. I'll have to start doing some research, thanks for the help man I appreciate it.

edit: well, superchips are on sale, may have to act on this lol

http://www.autoanything.com/performa...A3599A0A0.aspx

The only thing is
Works with tires between 26" and 36" as well as 3:42, 3:73, 4:10, 4:56 and 4:88 gear ratios
I checked google and have been getting various answers on my gear ratio. I have been getting 3.55, 3.42 and 4.10? I hope this superchip is compatible

If I didn't end up getting one, would I be able to go to advanced and have them do it? I've had them turn off a CE light for me before so would they be able to change my tire size to re-adjust the speedo?

No problem, glad I can help. The superchips should work w/ all the stock gear ratio's (call to verify before you purchase) and for an 02 you probably either have 3.55's or 3.92's. If you truck has an OEM limited slip it's most likely the 3.92's. There should be a sticker in your glove box which will have the gear ratio and also a tag on the rear axle (mine is on the passenger side of the axle near the tire). You can also request a build sheet from dodge online or go to a dealer and get one and the ratio will be on there.
