Rear diff hosed :(
I have (and many others) Motive 4.56 gears (front and rear if your 4x4) with a Detroit TruTrac in the rear. This is my third set of gears. The fir st being the OEM, and the second was Genuine Gear. Stay far away from Genuine "Gen-u-Whine" Gear because they are noisy and annoying. I have also heard that Yukon makes a good product also. Your going to shell out some dough for the parts and install, but its well worth the piece of mind that you've got a stout differential back there. The 4.56 gears and 5 speed transmission really wake up the truck without compromising too much fuel economy.
Not sure if you have 4X4 or 2WD

I know you didn't mean to offend, but I resent that. The plugs were no big deal for me, and for many others before me. Sure some people have trouble, but its a matter of tools and how good you are. HorseApples can change his plugs in under an hour. They may not have had the best design, but they don't design in problems! Inexperienced people who aren't good with these things simply shouldn't be doing them.
Think about this, how does an engineer benefit if the design is bad? corporate makes a cut off of the car selling to dealer (which pays the engineer). dealer makes money by raising price and selling to consumer (no more $ to the engineer). warranty work COSTS corporate money (taking out of engineers pocket in the end, bonus or some other way). maybe corporate makes money off the parts? well, everyone here that has had one grenade out of warranty has replaced with an auburn or DTT, so no money in corporates pocket, and no money to the engineer. the only way the engineer makes more money is to have a great design that increases sales of cars or wear parts.
engineers do the best they can with what they have. yes, sometimes they suck at it, really really suck, but its not intentional.

Just poor unfortunates who look at where the brake booster is and just give up.
The plugs were no big deal to me or probably others out there, but to some it's be like walking up everest.
From the point of view of how stupid the placement of the brake booster is with ref to changing out the plugs, I still say it's a crap design and somewhat of a money maker for whoever to change the plugs out.
I won't reply further or contribute to this thread either as I believe my "tongue in cheek" point has been totally missed.

If you gotta eat it, DO NOT pay the dealer to do it! You can find a good shop to put much better gears (Motive, Richmond, Yukon, Genuine, Precision, etc.) in their along with a LSD that actually works like the Auburn or Detroit TruTrac.
My local shop will do gears for $600 an axle, to include ring, pinion, install kit and all labor. Add about $400 for an Auburn LSD and you should be able to get out the door for not much over a grand. I know the dealers are well over $1200 for ring and pinion WITHOUT the LSD...
No indeed I didn't and don't mean to offend anyone but, I did not say you or other experienced people with ref to changing out plugs.
