DUDE! If you like the truck and there is nothing wrong with it, why don't you keep it. Pay it off and the money you save not having a payment will more than cover future repairs!

You will never make money on the truck. You might as well keep it and get you money out of it in usage.

just my opinion, but there is nothing wrong with driving a vehicle til the wheels fall off.

I can't afford to front repairs, I learned this from my 2nd generation Ram. At any given time I was subject to a $200-$3,500 repair bill. Although a monthly payment sucks, at least I can afford a consistent and predictable payment. I was constantly having to ask my parents for money because I couldn't afford to front any of the repair bills that come with a truck after 75,000+ miles. The bumper to bumper warranty covers practically everything on the truck and its integrated into my truck payment which is a very nice piece of mind. At $349 a month I am paying my truck payment and getting complete bumper to bumper coverage, it's a very comforting asset to have as a 20 year student going to college.

You are as bad as my kids!! You just don't get it! You take care of your truck, pay it off then take your $350 per month and put it in the bank. That becomes your repair money. a real simple concept. NOW on the other hand if you are like most your age this is really about you wanting a new truck, not about the warranty at all. And if it is, that is fine, we have all been there. Just don't blame having to sell your truck because your warranty has run out, sounds stupid! If you want a new truck just tell us you want a new truck, you don't need a reason for us. If you are trying to convince yourself that you NEED one, well good luck but I don't see the NEED!!

I agree. I have never heard of anyone having to sell a truck bc the warranty has run out.

Just learn how to do some of the scheduled maintenance and you will be able to save so much money that you are wasting on paying people. You just got done with that tune up and fluid change which cost you a friggin fortune. If you started doing some of this stuff yourself you would have all that extra cash to put toward mods or repairs should you need them when you warranty runs out.

First of all, if the warranty IS NOT what you thought you were getting, cancel it. By law they have to give you any and all pro-rated money you do not use. An after-market warranty may be cancelled by either party with written notice. I just went through this with my Mom's '08 Caravan that she purchased a 7 year - 100,000 mile bumper to bumper to supplement the lifetime powertrain when she bought it.

Use the money either to shop on your own for a third party warranty company (make sure you get Dirtydog to read the fine print first - his skills are phenomenal at both legal and stereo planning. Got me a great Sparko-matic setup) or sock the refund money away for any unforeseen repairs.

Who knows, when they find out you want to cancel the contract, they may be willing to play ball as to the duration you originally thought you had.

There is also a moral to this story - DO NOT TRUST THE DEALER - ANY DEALER!!!

jay, you prolly have the rollover of an existing warranty on your truck. When I bought my Grand Cherokee in '07 with 61,000 miles on it, I had the opportunity to pay $100 to transfer the balance of the original 7/70 powertrain to it.
I did it, was a cheap insurance policy. I know it was only valid for me for 9,000 miles and wouldn't last me a year, but I figured if the thing had some problem undiagnosed by me from the get-go, it would be worth my while. You never know when a transmission built by Chrysler will decide to take a sh*t...

I understand your point of view, but I do disagree. The reason I wanted a warranty that would cover me until 100,000 miles was because I knew it would closely coordinate with the amount of money I owed on the vehicle. More likely than not I will still be paying monthly payments on the truck when the warranty expires. This will leave me extremely vulnerable paying $349 a month and if it something pricey goes, I will not have a lot of money to play with to pay for a repair bill. And yes, part of selling the truck before the warranty expires is to buy a new truck because you can buy a new warranty and start fresh again. All I know is that I bought this truck with the assumption I would be covered up until 98,000 miles or 2016. Now that I have been informed my warranty is only until October of 2012 or 72,000 miles, it changes a lot of things for me.

As Hammer had kind of pointed out, I may consider just getting a refund back for the warranty and looking elsewhere for a warranty that will cover my truck up until 100,000 miles. Does anybody know of a warranty company that could do this?
