What do I do?
In regards to my warranty situation, I called the company that I am under contract with to inquire about getting a warranty that will cover the truck up until 100,000 miles. According to the warranty company, he says the dealer has the authorization to extend the warranty until whatever amount of mileage they think is acceptable; this was news to me. So I went down to Berlin City this afternoon and talked the finance manager. I informed him about the mishap and explained that I wanted a warranty that would cover me up until 100,000 miles. He started going on about how since the vehicle is considered used now they would have to re-inspect the truck, cancel the warranty, and then go from there; total b/s. I then informed him that the warranty company said that they had the power to grant me 100,000 miles if they so chose to. I explained to them that it would make me a very happy customer if they would accomodate my situation and fix it. I don't plan on them admitting their screw up of misinforming me, but I do expect them to fix my situation. I'm guessing they'll try to charge me more to get to 100,000, but I will make it clear I expect them to grant me the warranty with what I have already paid. It's important to me that my truck is covered until 100,000 miles because I anticipate selling the truck with 10k-15k of warranty remaining on the truck as a good selling point.
Honestly, I can't say that I really appreciate you minimizing my decision making as a 20 year old. In my opinion, I am much more mature and intelligent than most people of my age group. I think I've made a smart decision by establishing credit early in my years; it was a great accomplishment for myself when the bank preapproved me for $15,000 to buy a new truck without a co-sign. It's not like I don't have any experience with unwarrantied vehicles because up until March of 2009, our family owned 8 vehicles; all of which had over 100,000 miles and weren't under warranty. The result was a never ending repair bill for all of the vehicles, it was becoming outrageous. My previous dodge ram truck was riddled with endless repair bills, ranging from starters, o2 sensors, a rear axle overhaul, and an entire transmission. So I have tried going that route. Sure, my truck runs great now because it only has 37,000 miles, but it's when the truck has to actually be tested against real time and mileage is when things can start to get bad fast....something I am not willing to gamble on again.

I'm still waiting for the day some kid rolls in here and says "I'm much less mature than the other kids my age...."
You're probably an alright kid, but just remember you're coming on to a forum where people are into modding and hot rodding their trucks, and then telling us you want to stay stock and keep the warranty... How much support did you really expect?
Last time I checked and I could be wrong... (I'm much less intelligent than kids my age :P) Extended warranties aren't transferable... That was made explicitly clear when I bought it on my truck.
As for you saying that anybody is basically badmouthing you due to your age is absolutely rediculous! Much like you selling your truck because it's going to run out of warranty. They are offer constructive criticism. Most kids in your age group put their back up against a wall very much the same as you did.
Warranties go off the mileage listed on the odometer not in addition to what you bought the truck with (unless you bought it from a peanuts operation in which case leaves you no smarter than any other kid your age) so don't be surprised if the dealership tells you to go pound pavement.

This forum may be used by many DIY's, but to imply that wanting a warranty is some outlandish concept only idolized by uninformed, young kids is plain silly to me. I take pride in my vehicle, and I too, am into customizing and hot rodding my truck...it's one of the only few Rams around town that have any kind of personal touch to them. Personally, I think they will fix my situation. Around my area, this particular dealership markets themselves as being one of the friendliest, I don't think they'd want to tarnish my relationship with them incase I want to buy another vehicle from them in the future. As far as warranties being transferable, they very much are. What a great selling point to somebody in the used truck market. Imagine if you were buying a used truck privately that had over a year of warranty or 15,000 miles left of bumper to bumper coverage on it for no extra charge? Wouldn't that intrigue you to purchase it over other comparable yeared/mileaged trucks? It's not really a matter of whether a warranty is sensible or not, it's a very common thing to possess in the automobile world. I just don't see the correlation between young age negligence and wanting full coverage up until 100,000 miles as being valid.
I/we am just saying that I/we don't buy or sell our vehicles based on the warranty, or lack there of. If I like a truck I buy/keep it till I don't like it any longer. I am not belittling you for your credit, or desire for a warranty, but dang, common sense should prevail somewhere along the way. If you are tired of the truck sell it, if your not then keep it.

Stick by your guns kid! If the warranty is that important to you AND you feel that the dealer knew you thought you were buying an extended warranty good till 100,000 miles, then fight 'em till you either win or lose!
Remember, you can always fire the extended warranty company and get another one! Same as the dealer, if they hosed you, let them know you will NEVER buy there again and let everyone you know be aware of their practices.
A warranty till 100,000 miles may not be a big deal to most of us, but if one of these guys walked in and bought a 4x4 and made it clear they wanted a limited slip differential, and the dealer verbally assured them "it's in there" and they found out come winter time it's an open diff, you'd better believe there would be posts on here out the ying-yang and they'd be hootin' and hollerin' at the dealership!!!
If it was an integral part of your deal and the dealer f*cked up or swindled you, go get 'em!!!
