Looking at an '07 Ram 1500
$18,500 is an average deal for a truck with 26,000 miles in New England. My truck retailed at $22,000 at the time of purchase. The trucks my brother are looking at, retail for $25,100 NADA as well. Sure, you can base your prices on trucks from states that don't require 4x4, but that's not realistic. I'm sure cars in Florida are priced higher than cars in Maine during the winter time. My truck was in excellent condition, and I was very pleased to get a beautiful truck with every feature I wanted with extremely low miles under $19,000. I searched for two long months looking for a truck with miles that low and couldn't find anything under $20,000, and if it was, it was ugly The winters here in Maine are long and harsh, trucks are valued more up around here. I find it sad that my own forum is picking on their forum member, where's the dodge loyalty at? Silly me, I was bragging to my brother how I would be able to ask you guys your opinion on this because I knew you guys had some great insight on dodge trucks; instead, you proved me wrong and made me regret coming to you guys once again. I don't appreciate the way I have been treated on my last two threads, and I feel let down. Thanks a lot.
I'd search on Auto Trader to see what the avg. prices are. I know in Jacksonville, NC everything (especially 4x4 trucks) are hella expensive, along with everything else because it's next to a Marine Base. Everything near a military base is expensive because they know they can get what they are asking for because if you turn down a vehicle, the next dumbass Marine behind you will buy it at sticker, above retail. </rant>
Anyways, I'd go to Edmunds.com and find out the TMV of that vehicle. It sounds like that dealer is trying to play hardball and you nor your brother need to give in. If they got that vehicle for $22500 like they said then they would probably have to sell it for at least $25000 to make any kind of profit after their expenses. They probably bought it for $17000 or so as a trade-in or as low as $14000 at an auction.
I'd call the guy up, tell him you'll give him no more than $19500 and don't call him anymore after that. If they are really trying to sell this vehicle, they will call you, otherwise, you saved yourself from getting ripped off. You'll find a better deal in a week or so anyways, that's how the car buying business goes.
You can also go on Carmax.com. They have vehicles from across the country and if you see something you like they will actually ship it to you. However, you have to buy it first which leaves out the test drive or anything. Most of the cars are in really good shape though.
Btw, I bought my truck in January with 42,000 miles. Perfect condition, new tires (suckyears) for $14200.

Yes, I came to you guys for factual information and advice, but instead, I just received personal attacks because people are letting their egos get in the way of things. Instead of boasting about what deal you heard somebody else get and how bad of a deal I got, keep it factual, and keep it on the point. All of the attacking is uncessary and takes away from the thread. I don't even want my brother to read this thread now because of all of the crapping on you guys have given me, downright embarassing.
I am right there with you Bullet, not really sure what the issue is. He asked our opinions on some trucks and pricing, we gave it to him and now he is upset that we gave him our opinions. I am confused???
Teacher, you are an adult man, don't play stupid. You guys know what you did and it's simply uncool. I already showed an example of somebody that was genuinely trying to help me, THAT's what I'm looking for. I don't need all of this, "Oh man you got raped on your deal!". "And now you're trying to bring your brother down the same path!". How exactly would that be useful to me?....that is if you are actually trying to help me, and not here to make me play monkey in the middle.

If you are going to post things you need to be ready to hear responses that don't agree with you. You are claiming personal attacks when all anyone did was tell you that you overpaid and your brother is going to overpay if he buys one of those trucks.
Well, that may not have been useful to you, but they are being factual with you. When you come to a public online forum, you take the good advice with the bad. Quit getting your panties in a bunch and b!tching at members online for giving you their say on the situation. Pathetic, it's a wonder anyone is trying to help you here after those comments.
Here is a link to the thread you started before this one. How were you treated badly in this one?
